Week 2 Report - NFCH
Things heated up on Day 2 of Nestea Fit Camp Hot. The action got even more frenetic and frantic under the blazing hot sun as campers threw themselves into the drills – some quite literally putting their bodies on the line as they got fully into the game.
The focus for the days lessons were on learning how to attack effectively. All the drills and mini-games were aimed at improving participants general passing and catching ability. At the same time it was stressed how important teamwork and working together is in trying to get pass defenders. Touch really relies on all players on the field working together and supporting the player with the ball in trying to get pass the defensive line.
Next week we shift towards defence and trying to integrate a few simple set plays and moves for teams as they begin their preparation for the end of camp tournament in earnest.
Tips
- In attack, constantly readjust your position to make sure you remain behind the player with the ball - so they can pass to you.
- When running, it’s even more important to pass rotate your torso/trunk so that you pass the ball backwards
- First priority in attack is to gain territory and get closer to the touchdown zone
- Early in the touch count in attack, just take the touch - don’t throw away possession by recklessly throwing the ball just before you get touch.
- Remember that you have four (4) touches - you should try utilize all your touches, you don’t have to score on the first touch.
