Week 1 Report - NFCH
It was a Sizzling HOT start to the COOL & FUN activities at the Touch Football field on February 20 at Nestea Fit’s Camp Hot. Yet despite the scorching summer sun, all Touchies were protected from the rays with their BEACH HUT sunscreen, as they zoomed & dodged around the field in their RUDY PROJECT Red camp shirts, while being constantly fueled & refreshed by their unlimited supply of NESTEA FIT with L-Carnitin.
With Team Touch Football, the instructors from Touch Football Pilipinas have as their primary objective the FUN & ENJOYMENT of participants throughout the two hour clinic, while of course also learning & playing the sport. For the first day of the camp the focus was on teaching & learning the basics of Passing & Catching while running with the ball in attack, and moving back 4m as a unit in defense. This was done by putting participants through their paces in five (5) structured and progressive skills drills that are fun, high energy, and require participants to work together as a team.
So despite the challenge of learning a new sport which most participants had never seen played and had no prior knowledge off, players were soon darting & dodging around the field, passing their way to scoring their very first Touchdowns, with people they had just met, who were now not strangers, but high-fiving teammates.
A fun day, a fun start and definitely more fun will be had on Day 2 of the camp on February 27. So come down, join the fun & festivities at Nestea Fit Camp Hot and please give the sport of Touch Football a try, join Team Touch Football, be a Touchie even if just for the day, we promise that you will enjoy & have fun in the sun!
Quick Tips
- To hold the ball properly you always carry the ball in your fingertips - hands underneath the ball.
- Passing is as simple as swinging your hands across your body from side to side while allowing your hips to move, it’s a flow action. Power comes from the torso, while our hands give the ball its direction.
- When catching the ball always have both your hands out in front of your body ready to catch the ball
- Remember that you cannot pass forward, you can only pass sideways or backward.
- As soon as a defender Touches the attacking player with the ball, they need to immediately retreat back 4m from where the touch occurred.
Touch Football is a fast paced, running & passing, outdoor, team sport - also known as ‘Touch’ or ‘Touch Rugby’.
This fast, simple & exciting game promotes fundamental skills of running; ball handling & passing; evasion & support play.
